It is surrounded by mountains including Mt. Fuji, the Sounth Alps and Yatsuga-take. Most regions of Yamanashi have an inland climate with great swings in temperature. The mountain regions such as Yatsuga-take and Mt. Fuji have the highland climate, with bitterly cold winters and cool summers.
