Kyoto (京都) is a prefecture in the Kansai region and is located almost in the center of Japan's main island of Honshu. Its capital is Kyoto City.

Kyoto was the capital of Japan for over a millennium, and carries a reputation as its most beautiful city. However, now that Kyoto is mixed with the modern side and the traditional side of Japan, when you just arrive in you might be disappointed at the first impression of Kyoto city.
